This is Gerard de Chamberet’s La Loue or what was first called Le Rose. It was in a series of grayling flies called La Loue which later just became the name of this pattern. While de Chamberet was a fly imitationist he did have a lively spirit and was very imaginative AND must have like rose Champagne (who doesn’t?!).
